Purpose of this guide
This article walks you through setting up ticketing for a theme park—or any long-running attraction such as a waterpark, play center, or museum—using Oveit. You’ll learn how to create your attraction, configure calendars and capacity, build tickets and bundles, add upsells, and activate cashless access control.
Challenge | How Oveit helps |
---|---|
Variable daily capacity | Calendar-based inventory with visual status (Plenty → Filling fast → Sold out) so guests pick another date before hitting an error. (Oveit – Smart Ticketing) |
Multiple ticket scenarios (families, schools, parties) | Bundles let you group several tickets under one parent product, simplifying checkout. (Oveit – Bundles) |
On-site upsells | Add-ons (e.g., meal plan, extra rides) prompt guests during purchase and use the same QR/RFID credential. (Oveit – Addons) |
Long entrance queues | Real-time access control works with all major turnstile hardware, RFID wristbands, or mobile wallets. (Oveit – Access Control and Turnstiles Automation) |
Fragmented payments | One platform covers online sales, box-office POS, partner resellers, cashless in-park payments, and even NFT or crypto tickets. (Oveit – Smart Ticketing) |
2 | Prerequisites #
- Oveit account with the Attraction module enabled (Available starting with the PRO plan).
- Park operating calendar (open/closed days and daily capacity).
- Price list for tickets, bundles, and add-ons.
- Optional: Floor plan or zone list if you use zoned access.
3 | Step-by-step: Set up ticketing in Oveit #
3.1 Create the attraction container #
- In the Oveit Dashboard, go to Attractions → My attractions.
- Click Create attraction.
- Enter the name (e.g., Pixel World Fun Land), description, and main image.
- Set the default time zone and preferred currency.
Tip: Naming the attraction is what your guests will see on the booking page, so keep it short and brand-consistent.
3.2 Define your operating calendar & capacity #
- In Schedule & Availability, add open dates.
- Set max visitors per day; Oveit will automatically label each day Plenty, Filling fast, or Sold out as sales progress.
- (Optional) Specify time slots for parks that require staggered entry.
3.3 Create individual ticket types #
Example ticket | Recommended fields |
---|---|
General access – Adult | Price, tax class, validity window, age restriction, capacity share |
General access – Child | Lower price, separate reporting category |
After-4 PM Twilight | Custom start time, discounted price |
- Navigate to Tickets → Add ticket.
- Complete the form for each ticket type.
- Save; each ticket appears in the catalog.
3.4 Build bundles for common visitor groups #
Bundles package multiple tickets under one SKU to speed up checkout and boost average order value:
Bundle | Included items |
---|---|
Family Pack | 2 × Adult + 2 × Child tickets |
School Group (30 students + 2 teachers) | 30 × Child + 2 × Adult + free meal add-on |
Create a new Bundle, add the component tickets into it, and override the total price if you want to discount the pack. ( Oveit – Bundles )
3.5 Offer add-ons & upgrades #
Add-ons appear as upsell prompts after a visitor picks any ticket or bundle:
Typical add-ons | Purpose |
---|---|
Meal plan | Increase F&B pre-sales |
Extra rides pass | Monetize premium attractions |
Birthday party room | Sell ancillary services |
- Go to Ticket configuration → Addons.
- Alternatively, if this is an attraction-wide add-on – go to Attraction addons and set the inventory level. The Addon will show up under Ticket configuration → Addons
- Link the add-on to the ticket(s) it applies to. ( Oveit – Addons )
3.6 Configure payments & checkout #
- Payment gateways – Connect Stripe, PayPal, or local providers under Account → Payment.
- Cashless – Enable internal wallets if you plan to accept tap-to-pay wristbands inside the park. Oveit Pay – Smart Ticketing
- Promo codes & vouchers – Optional discounts via Attractions → Vouchers.
3.7 Activate access control #
- In Oveit Checkin, choose QR only, RFID wristbands, or both. (Oveit Checkin)
- For hardware turnstiles, point your integrator to Oveit’s API or pre-built middleware. Oveit – Turnstile API
- Test scanning a sample ticket at each gate.
3.8 Publish & test #
- Under Preview & Publish, press Publish.
- Buy a $0.01 test ticket (use your own coupon) and walk through every step—confirmation email, download link, scanning, and wallet top-up.
- Once satisfied, remove the test ticket or hide it from public view.
4 | Advanced tools to maximise revenue #
- Dynamic inventory rules – Adjust capacity by channel (online vs. onsite vs. channels).
- Real-time dashboards – Monitor entries, add-on redemption, and F&B spend.
- NFT tickets – Upgrade standard tickets to non-fungible tokens for collectibles or VIP perks. Oveit – NFT Ticketing
- AI booking assistants – Let Oveit’s AI recover abandoned carts and auto-suggest upsells. Oveit AI Ticketing
5 | Best practices #
- Start with fewer ticket types and expand once reporting shows demand.
- Limit add-ons to high-value items so the checkout remains fast.
- Use capacity labels (Plenty, Filling fast) to create urgency without needing manual edits.
- Sync offline sales (Oveit box office or travel agents) via Oveit POS to prevent over-booking.
- Segment reporting by ticket category to spot low-performing products quickly.
6 | Frequently asked questions #
Question | Short answer |
