As an event manager or attraction operator, few things are more frustrating than a potential guest who selects tickets but leaves before paying. In e-commerce, this is known as an Abandoned Cart.
Oveit provides a powerful tool to track these incomplete interactions. By understanding who almost bought a ticket and what they wanted, you can fix checkout friction points or reach out to recover the sale. You can use this in conjunction with our Conversion Rate Optimization system and the Google Tag Manager integration to automate the process.
Where to Find Your Abandoned Carts #
To access this data, log in to your Oveit dashboard and navigate to the sidebar menu:
- Click on Reports.
- Select Abandoned carts.
Understanding the Data #
The Abandoned Carts dashboard provides a comprehensive list of every attempted purchase that was not finalized. Here is a breakdown of the data columns you will see in the main table:
- **#: ** The unique reference ID for the attempted transaction.
- Customer: The name of the attendee (if they reached the step of entering it). If the user dropped off early in the process, this may appear as n/a.
- Email: The most valuable piece of data. This captures the email address entered by the user, allowing you to retarget them.
- Payment Method: Shows which payment gateway the user selected (e.g., NETOPIA, Stripe, PayPal). If they didn’t get this far, it will show as n/a.
- Tickets: The quantity of tickets they attempted to buy.
- Total: The total monetary value of the potential sale.
- Created At: The exact date and time the cart was created.
Digging Deeper: The Expanded View #
On the right side of every row, you will see a generic (+) or Show More icon. Clicking this reveals granular details about that specific abandoned cart, including:
- Billing Address: City, State, and Country (useful for understanding regional demand).
- Ticket Breakdown: The specific ticket types they wanted (e.g., “My conference 2026 – Discover Ticket”).
How to Filter and Search Your Data #
If you manage high-volume events, your abandoned cart list might be long. Use the filter bar at the top of the page to find specific information:
- ID: Search for a specific transaction number.
- Customer / Attendee: Search by name to see if a specific person had trouble buying tickets.
- Date Range (Created from / To): Isolate data from a specific timeframe (e.g., during a “Flash Sale” weekend) to see if drop-off rates increased.
- Event: If you manage multiple events, use this dropdown to view abandoned carts for a single attraction or conference.
- Voucher: Check if users attempting to use a specific discount code are abandoning their carts (which might indicate the code isn’t working).
Once you have set your parameters, simply click the blue Search button.
Turning Data into Sales #
The goal of this report isn’t just to look at the data—it is to use it. Here is how you can utilize the Download carts feature to increase revenue:
- Email Retargeting: Export the list and filter for rows that have a captured email address. You can send a gentle reminder email: “We noticed you left tickets in your cart! Here is a link to complete your order.”
- Identify Technical Issues: If you see a large number of abandoned carts all occurring at the “Payment Method” stage with a specific provider, there may be a technical gateway error preventing payment.
- Pricing Sensitivity: If users frequently abandon carts after seeing the “Total,” it might indicate that hidden fees or taxes are surprising them at checkout.
By regularly monitoring your Oveit Abandoned Carts report, you can turn “almost-attendees” into confirmed guests.
