I’ve read that I can sell tickets on my own website. How does that work?

After your event is published go to My Events and mouse click on the name of your event. Two embed codes will be displayed, for both light and dark color schemes. Copy the code snippet on your website and you are ready to go.
If you have saved a custom theme you will be able to copy its code snippet from the Preview and Publish step:
